FAQ’s
Below you will find my frequently asked questions. Please read this page fully before submitting a tattoo request.
Where are you located?
I currently work with the amazing team at Goodkind Tattoo Shop which is located at:
3056 N Clybourn Ave, Unit C
Chicago, IL
(773) 857-0609
Parking: There is free, no permit parking on Clybourne in front of the shop.
What method of payment do you take?
Deposits are to be paid via Zelle or PayPal. At your tattoo appointment, the preferred method of payment is CASH however we do accept credit cards.
What are your rates?
Most of my appointments are SET RATE which will be estimated and given to you when booking your appointment. Note that rates are ESTIMATED only and are based on final decisions made during your appointment, such as size and placement. Some appointments will be booked at an hourly rate of $220/hour (or $250/hour if traveling) and in that case, the hourly rate will also be given to you when booking your appt.
Do you do consultations?
I try to do most of my consultations via email that way all of the information is documented and easily referenced. However, when this isn’t possible or we need a tracing of the space being tattooed we will book an in-person consult.
Do you do cover-ups?
Yes
How long will you hold my appointment time without a deposit?
When we respond to your initial booking form we will provide a date and time for your appointment based on your availability - this spot will be held for 24 hours until we hear back from you. If you confirm the appointment date, your appointment will be held for a further 24 hours until a deposit is sent. When this deposit has been sent within that time frame - your appointment is considered confirmed once you receive a confirmation from us!
Deposits
Deposits are NON-REFUNDABLE and NON-TRANSFERRABLE. Your deposit goes towards the drawing of the tattoo, securing the time slot, and will be deducted from the balance of the tattoo at your appointment.
If you need to reschedule, you must give us 7 days’ notice in order to keep your deposit. If you reschedule with less than 7 days’ notice, more than one time, or are more than 20 minutes late to your appointment, your deposit will be forfeited and a new one will be required to rebook. Your payment of the deposit confirms that you understand and accept the deposit policy.
Multi-session Deposits:
Sleeve work (leg or arm) requires a $300 deposit for 3 booked sessions. At each appointment, $100 will be taken off of the session price.
Back piece or full torso requires a $500 deposit for 5 booked sessions. The first session is a flat rate of $1500.
First-session flat rates allow time for applying stencils to large areas and outlining. The inability to sit through the full outline will still result in the flat rate being charged.
What if I don’t hear back from my booking form?
We aim to get back to requests within 5 business days, however, sometimes it may be a little longer. Please note that not all requests will get approved. I try to focus on subject matter and style that matches my expertise and interest. However, we will respond to all requests though so you haven’t heard back and feel your request may have been missed - feel free to send a follow-up email after 2 weeks have elapsed.
When do I get to see the design?
For larger projects or multi-session pieces, I MAY email a rough sketch a week prior to the appointment to ensure I am going in the right direction. ALL other designs will be shown on the day of your appointment. I do allot extra time for minor changes on the day of your appointment. Please familiarize yourself with my body of work on my Instagram to ensure my style matches what you are looking for.
What can I do to prepare for my tattoo?
Make sure to get a good night’s sleep, drink lots of water, and have a good meal before your appointment. If you have a longer tattoo session, feel free to bring snacks and water. Headphones and a charged device are also great ideas to keep you occupied. Please also avoid alcohol 24 hours before your tattoo - alcohol thins the blood significantly, and after a big night, can affect the tattoo process the following day often resulting in less-than-ideal heal.
Can I apply numbing cream to the tattoo area before my appt?
I allow numbing cream to be used AFTER I complete the outline. Numbing cream is not to be used prior to the outline. I use bactine during the tattoo process which does numb the area a little bit. For larger sessions I tell my clients that after the initial outline appt they may apply numbing cream for the rest of their sessions. I recommend Hush Numbing Gel. Rub into your skin and then apply another generous layer two hours prior to your appointment and wrap in saran wrap if possible.
What do you recommend for tattoo after-care?
You can find my instructions here: After-care Instructions
How do touch-up sessions work?
After your tattoo session, you need to wait at least 1 month for the tattoo to fully heal. If you feel it needs a touch-up the first session is complimentary* within 3 months of your original tattoo. After the first touch-up session, any following touch-ups will be charged at 50% rate. If it is apparent that you need a touch-up due to negligent aftercare you will be charged at 100% rate. Please note touch-ups only include touching up what is already there. Adding to a piece, however, small will be subject to additional fees. *Finger tattoos and some feet tattoos are exempt from free touch-ups and are always charged at a 50% rate due to the nature of the skin there.
